Horse Riding Lessons

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Horse riding lessons can enhance one’s pleasure in riding enormously. It is a great help to get lessons in the beginning so that bad habits do not become confirmed early on. Horseback riding does not come to people instinctively and the most effective techniques for riding have been developed over the millennia. Take advantage of the trials and errors of our ancestors and don’t waste time experimenting before you have a good foundation. These days books and videos are available as well as lessons from qualified instructors.

Certainly to achieve a satisfying level of riding just the technique is not enough. One also has to have the riding muscles in shape and be trim and fit for the best results. Then too there is no substitute for practice to gain balance and confidence. The best riders have a combination of top instruction, natural ability, physical fitness and at least ten thousand hours in the saddle. Like almost any other sport, the young can learn faster than older people so don’t wait too long to start. This is not to say that many older people who have never ridden can’t become excellent riders and many sexagenarians have learned to ride well and enjoyed it for years after.
